Coming Home

A couple of weeks ago, I began a new chapter in my service life that feels like coming home.

I started on January 16, 2025 as the first ever City Administrator for the City of Poulsbo. A community of great history and tradition, that was part of my district as commissioner and with whom I partnered to make our community better. As the City progresses over the coming year in its transition from a full-time strong mayor to that of a part-time mayor, it was important to establish the structure to provide continuity of government and professional management of the day to day operations.

The community is blessed to have an awesome group of leaders assembled as part of the leadership team, many with decades of experience that comes to play each day as we respond to the growing needs of the city and its residents.

As so many of us deal with the onslaught of information from all levels and sources in our lives, it is nice to remind ourselves to take a deep breath and focus on our sphere of influence. As I was chatting with someone yesterday, I was reminded that it can be overwhelming when so much of what we hear about externally is outside of our immediate control. Thus it’s all the more important to look within ourselves, our community, our places of employment, our organizations with whom with volunteer, to remain grounded in our day to day and how we can make a difference in the lives of others and take comfort in being the best we can be.

I look forward to the new learnings ahead of me, the camaraderie and the dedication of so many to making our part of the world a special place.
